Alfred E. Mueller

ALFRED E. MUELLER , 92, died peacefully on March 19th, 2016 with his wife, Anne (nee Dillon), by his side, after a long battle with NPH (a degenerative brain disorder). Alfred was born on September 6, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Margareta (Graebner) and Karl Albin Mueller. He attended Jones Commercial High School in Chicago and received his Certified Public Accounting degree from Northwestern School of Business. Alfred served in the United States Army/Air Corps as a gunnery instructor from 1943 to 1946. Alfred and Anne were united in marriage at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Chicago on June 19, 1948.

Alfred was the founding partner, in 1969, of Mueller & Co., CPAs (Elgin, IL). Some of the civic, religious, and professional organizations with which he was affiliated include: American Institute of CPA's, Illinois Institute of CPA's, Federal Taxation Committee of Illinois Society of CPA, Kiwanis, USA Council of International Serra Club, Catholic Charities, Catholic Diocese of Rockford, Fox Valley Mental Health, Tuberculosis Association of Kane County, St. Joseph Hospital, Knights of Columbus, St. Thomas More Parish, First National Bank, and United Way.

Alfred and Anne retired to the DeKalb area in 2005 and attended Christ the Teacher University Parish. Alfred was happiest when enjoying his and Anne's beautiful lake home on Lac Court d'Oreilles in Northern Wisconsin. He loved to fish and taught many a young "angler". All his life he was an avid reader on a host of subjects. The story of him putting the television set out on the curb so that his children would read instead of watch cartoons is a family legend. Alfred was a wonderful example of what was truly important in life – faith, family and friends. He was devoted to all three.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne, his sister Helen McCanna (of CA), his children, Margaret (Gerald) Saindon (Seymour WI), Carolyn (Phil) Saindon (Sycamore, IL), Catherine (Terry) Williams (Cypress, TX), Alfred G. (Karen) Mueller (DeKalb, IL), Stephen (Deborah) Mueller (Lorton, VA), Lawrence (Kathleen) Mueller (Houston, TX) and Nancy (Jeff) Tegge (Geneva, IL); 24 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren. Alfred shares a legacy with many Dillon and Mueller nieces, nephews and in-laws and will be fondly remembered.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Caroline, Mildred, Albin, Richard, Walter, Violet, and Herbert.

Alfred arranged for his body to be donated for medical science. There will be no visitation; a memorial funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 2nd at 10 A.M at the Newman Catholic Student Center in DeKalb with Father Matthew McMorrow and Father Ed Shea O.F.M. co celebrating.
