Alice Marie Meadows

Alice Marie Meadows was born to Floyd and Olive Montgomery in Moline, Illinois on May 2, 1947. She grew up in Kirkland, Illinois where she learned to play the organ and piano. She met Terry Powell in the summer of 1963 when she invited him to a hayride. It was love at first sight! She graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1965. She attended Illinois State University and married Terry Powell in April of 1968. She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in education.

Alice has two sons, Bradley Dean and Daniel Brian. The Powell's moved to Lewisville, Texas in the summer of 1980 from Malta, Illinois when General Electric transferred them to North Texas. Alice worked as a secretary at Northern Illinois University, children's choir director in Mendota at St. John's Lutheran Church, elementary school teacher, private piano teacher, receptionist in Lewisville at First United Methodist Church, and retired from teaching in Lewisville in 2004.

Alice met Lynn Meadows at a widow widower's luncheon in Lewisville and married in March of 2009. They enjoyed traveling the world in their retirement and volunteering with Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child. She was a member of Lake Shore Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Olive Montgomery, her first husband, Terry Powell, and her brothers, David and Floyd Montgomery, and is survived by her husband, Lynn Meadows; sons, Bradley (Rachelle) of Corinth, Texas, and Daniel of Lewisville; grandson, Ryan, of Corinth, Texas; stepson, Jerrod Meadows of Atlanta; step-grandchildren, Lauren Meadows of Ft. Worth and Michael Meadows of Atlanta. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Lake Shore Baptist Church in Lake Dallas, Texas. Graveside service will be held on Saturday August 28, 2021, at 4:00pm in Mound Rest Cemetery in Cortland, IL.
