She was born on April 25, 1924 in Shabbona Grove, IL., the daughter of Nels and Johanna (Thorsen) Nelson.
She married Edward J. Petruchuis on January 25, 1947.
She is survived by her son, Richard E. Petruchuis, Sycamore, Il. And her daughter, Barbara J. Quatroke, Bartlett, Il., her sister, Norma Keller of Sycamore, 5 grandchildren, Rick Petruchuis, Genoa, Il., Sheila Corless, Sycamore, IL., Eric Petruchuis, Sycamore, IL., Chris Quatroke, Elgin, IL., Jeff Quatroke, South Elgin, IL, 11 great grandchildren, 6 nieces, 1 nephew and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Johanna Nelson, her husband, Edward; five sisters, Myrtle Vermeland, Amanda Eiselt, Nellie Theirfelder, Violet Murphy, and Selma Bolt; five brothers, Kenneth, Norman, Ole, Jessie and Theodore Nelson; four nephews and three nieces.
Alma was a widow for over 36 years. She worked at General Electric for over 33 years and was a member of the G. E. Women's Group after she retired. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she donated a lot of her time helping out at the church. When she was 80 years old, she blessedly took care of her great-granddaughter, Kaia for the first 5 years of her life. She helped all members of her family in any way she could. Her family was the most important thing to her. She enjoyed playing bingo and for a while was able to travel with her sisters. She was loved by all who came in contact with her.
We are sure that there is a great party in heaven as she is reunited with so many of her family.
