B. Elizabeth Madison
July 31, 2025
B. Elizabeth (Teachout) Madison, 100, formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday, July 31, 2025, in DeKalb, IL where she has resided since 1996. Betty was born in Syracuse and graduated from North High School and received her BA in Music Education from Syracuse University. During WWII she worked at the Easy Washing Machine Corporation, which had been converted to making munitions for the war effort. After graduating, she was a music teacher, organist and piano teacher for over 40 years; working for the Chittenango & Fayetteville-Manlius Schools, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home until her retirement in 1992.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she also served as organist and deacon, DeWitt Community Church, and the First Congregational U.C.C. of DeKalb. She was a wonderful storyteller, preserving the history of her family and ancestors, often with humorous anecdotes. Betty's endless love and energy will be sorely missed.
She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Douglas W. Madison in 2021; and brothers, Almon J. and Roger S. Teachout. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Madison (Cindy) of Fayetteville; daughter, Judy Brame (Dan) of Libertyville, IL; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The service will follow the calling hour. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund, Oak Crest Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Dr., DeKalb, IL 60115.
