Bertha Kaarina Huhta age 94 of DeKalb, IL died on Wednesday July 3, 2013 in the Pine Acres Rehab and Care Center in DeKalb. She was born on Owen, WI, and was the daughter of Kalle and Emilia (Hirvela) Riippi.

Bertha was married to the late Walter Huhta on November 8, 1940 in DeKalb, IL; he preceded her in death on October 25, 2000. Bertha had worked for Wurlitzer Piano Factory, Northern Illinois University in the Custodial Dept., and was a loving homemaker for many years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in DeKalb. Bertha was an avid reader, and loved her bible study, and her coffee talks with her many friends

Survivors include: son: Harry (Susan) Huhta of Sycamore, daughters: Kathleen Huhta of Cortland, Alice Keller of Davis Junction, grandchildren: Hans (Amy) Huhta, Joel (Elisa) Huhta, Kirk (Amanda) Huhta, Donna Keller, and Alex (Mahia) Keller, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents, husband: Walter, son: Daniel, brothers: Rueben, Neilo Riippi, half brothers: Sam and Carl Riippi, John Saari, and half sisters: Jennie Seppala, and Sadie Hietikko.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 9, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in DeKalb with Reverend Dan Wynard officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 9, 2013 from 9:00am till the time of the service in the church.
