Carl J. Votaw, 88 of DeKalb, IL passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Baylor White Scott Hospital in Irving, Texas.
Carl was born in Kentucky to Sam & Eliza Votaw on July 29, 1928.
Carl married Edith M. Nepean on February 11, 1946 in DeKalb, IL. They were an example of true love.
Carl retired from Blue Van & Storage. After retirement, he was employed by TransVac & was a crossing guard for DeKalb ISD, a job he whole heartily loved.
Carl is survived by his 5 children: Carl D. Votaw of Sycamore, IL, Diana L. Votaw Salser (Sylvan) of Grand Prairie, TX, Roger J. Votaw (Judy) of Cortland, IL, Donna J. Farris of DeKalb, IL, & David A. Votaw of Sycamore, IL. 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, & 4 great-great- grandchildren.
Carl is preceded in death by Edith M. Votaw, his parents, Sam & Eliza Votaw, 2 brothers, 3 sisters & his granddaughter, Candace M. Votaw.
Upon Carl's wishes, there will not be a funeral service. His family will gather together to celebrate his life and honor what an incredible man he was.
