Carole Vergene (Francen) Swanson born July 21, 1934 in DeKalb, IL died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Bethany Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Carole was the only child born to Chester L. and Mildred (Bogle) Francen on July 21, 1934.
Her education was at the Anderson and Brown Country Schools. She graduated from the Malta High School in 1952.
Carole married Robert J. Swanson on June 14, 1953 at the Malta Congregational Church. She worked at the Heins Grocery and Pease Lumber in Malta and then NIU Dining and Food Service for 35 years, retiring in 2007. Carole was an active member of the Malta church for 65 years she was involved with Sunday school, choirs and playing piano and organ for the church for many years. Carole made family gatherings and children?s activities were always her top priority.
Survivors include a son Ronald J. (Jeanne) Swanson of Shabbona and a daughter Jill Anne Swanson of Rock Falls. Grandchildren Jordan (Jill) Swanson of Yorkville, Colbie J. Swanson of DeKalb and Jacob Swanson of Shabbona. Great grandchildren Justin, Cali, and Cooper Swanson and Landon Lee Hall of Stillman Valley. Extended family Cory and Danielle Hall of Stillman Valley, Edward and Linette Hall of Byron and Joe and Christina Topinka and Alexandria Topinka of Texas.
Carole will be greatly missed and her loving spirit will live on through all who knew and loved her.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 12:00pm at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Bateman officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the memorial service at Malta Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.
