Cheryll

DeKalb
Cheryll Severson
Cheryll Severson, 70, of DeKalb, IL, was plucky, honest, fun-loving and always looking out for her loved ones. She was born March 10th, 1950 in Elgin, IL to Daniel and Carol Jean Severson. Cheryll had a saying, "I'll always land on my feet." and she always did. She was an optimist that enjoyed life to its fullest and didn't worry about future, uncontrollable things. She was a keen collector of antique Fiesta, and colorful jewelry to match every colorful outfit (including her "FM shoes"). Cheryll's memory recall made for enticing and descriptive storytelling and her ability to connect with people served her well in her first job with the Elgin Credit Bureau and later in her career as a loan officer. Cheryll spent most of her life in Elgin, IL but lived in Denver for a year where she and her sister enjoyed many concerts and fun moments together. Cheryll was an early-riser, her routine was a venti triple-shot white chocolate mocha (stirred before the whip), a cigarette, playing scrabble, and chatting with friends online from all over the world. She had many friends and loved learning about other peoples' lives. Cheryll was a foodie, her love for delicious meals meant she could cook better than most Food Network chefs, and her life partner of 14 years, Mark had no qualms with this fact. Cheryll enjoyed browsing boutiques for hours and driving her Monte Carlo while listening to Janis, the Cure, and any early R&B, rock, and 80s music. She was the kind of person that wanted to write her own obituary, with the first line reading "I'm pissed", because there was still so much in this world that she wanted to do. Her spunky, sometimes risqué mind and frank commentary will be sorely missed. Cheryll is preceded in death by Daniel Severson (father) and Carol Jean Severson (mother), and her life partner (Mark Stayton Wilson). Cheryll is survived by her younger sister Teri Lynn Jones, her nephew Richard Daniel Jones, her daughter Sydney Foks (s. Leon Foks), her granddaughter Oriana Foks ("Lulu"), and her best friends Betty Corcoran and Marcine Wheeler. Cheryll passed away February 7th, 2021. We will be postponing a memorial service until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to: Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL, 60115 (815) 758-3841.
