Clemence Michel Fawaz

Clemence Michel Fawaz, 85, of DeKalb, IL, passed away at home surrounded by family. She was born on November 5, 1940, in Beirut, Lebanon and was the daughter of Elias and Violet Khoury.

Clemence graduated high school in Beirut, Lebanon, a city she held dear and one that shaped the grace, faith, and values she carried throughout her life. On July 31, 1959, she married the love of her life, Michel, in a beautiful ceremony in Beirut, beginning a remarkable journey together that spanned more than six decades. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2025.

Clemence was the Queen of her family. She was strong, funny, and so dedicated to her children, her siblings, and, most of all, to the love of her life, Michel. Her devotion to her family was shown through daily contact, numerous cups of Turkish coffee, and amazing meals. Clemence's greatest pride and most enduring legacy were found within the family she lovingly nurtured and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Nothing brought Clemence more joy than having her large family gathered around the table, sharing meals, laughter, stories, and precious moments together. Clemence and Michel would share their love story with everyone gathered, with so much passion. The love they shared with everyone gathered set the standard for our family. She cherished these occasions, creating a home where everyone felt welcomed, loved, and cared for.

A woman of deep faith, Clemence was a devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in DeKalb, where she found strength in her faith and fellowship within her church family.

Her warmth, compassion, and steadfast love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, the example she set and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
