Dan Hicks

Dan Hicks of Earlville, passed away from a tragic accident on Monday June 2nd, 2025.
He was 55. Dan was born on January 24th, 1970. He grew up and graduated from Oswego High School.

Dan, at the age of 21 started working for Prairie Material as a mixer driver. He moved through the different positions in the company with ease and had been a maintenance mechanic, working on the portable plants, for the last several years.

Dan met the love of his life Sarah Salins (though he didn't know it yet) through a mutual friend in the fall of 1998. Dan and Sarah were married in April of 2000 and built their home in rural Earlville where they raised their two children, Brenden and Claire.

Dan had many hobbies over the years, including snowmobiling and boating, but the hobbies he loved the most were helping Claire work on her houses and restoring antique classic cars with Brenden. Most recent in the collection, a 1937 Ford coupe. Dan was an amazing husband, father, and friend. Dan was our rock, our joy, and our hearts and there will forever be a void in our lives from our loss of him.

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, June 14th from 10am-Noon at Finch Funeral Home located at 310 Oak St. DeKalb. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date. Cremation rites were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
