Elizabeth L. Meyer

Elizabeth Lou Meyer of DeKalb, IL passed away in hospice on November 6, 2023, at the age of 86, having been surrounded and "sung home" by family and friends.

Liz was a compassionate and giving mother, sister, teacher, librarian, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend.  She held a master's degree in early childhood development, and working with children was her life's greatest joy, whether within her own family, extended community, school, or the library where she served as children's librarian for many years after her retirement from teaching.  She was a devoted servant of God and participated in multiple overseas mission trips to benefit the welfare and education of children globally.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard M. Bartels (1933-2000), and Robert Eugene Meyer (2006-2014). She is survived by her 5 children (Martin Bartels, Marianne Pitelka, Jill Bailey, Peter Bartels, and Matthew Bartels.)

A funeral service is scheduled for 10am on November 18th, 2023, at Crossview EFCA, 150 Bethany Road, Dekalb, IL with interment to follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb and family celebration of life to follow.
