Fern C. Wernick

April 10, 1933 (Grevenmacher, Luxembourg) - April 21, 2021 (Buffalo Grove, IL)

A beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished friend of many who will be remembered for her passion for her family, graceful strength through adversity, optimistic outlook, intelligence and witty sense of humor.

Favorite pastimes were extensive world travel, couple's gourmet group with close friends, being an avid bridge player, a scrabble ace and caring about people.

Fern's family experience escaping the Holocaust was documented for perpetuity when she was filmed by the USC Shoah Foundation and shared the journey that brought them to life in the United States.

Fern lived all of her years with a purpose, leaving every community and neighborhood she lived in better for her efforts to help others. She focused on the difference she could make and the positive impact of uniting with others for the greater good of all. Equality, tolerance, peace and assisting those less fortunate were just a few of her core values.

A passionate community volunteer, these are just some of her notable contributions to making the world a better place:
