Gary J. Meier

Age 62 of DeKalb, IL, died on Sunday November 19, 2023, in the Northwestern Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born on January 15, 1961, in DeKalb, IL, and was the son of Ronald and Bernadine E. (Herrmann) Meier.

After graduating from DeKalb High School in the class of 1979, he went to work for Cardinal Glass Company in DeKalb for 37 years, retiring in the fall of 2019. He was a member of the Local 27 Glazers Union, if Gary was not working you could find him fishing, golfing, watching sports, and playing with his grand dog. He really enjoyed spending time with his family, and was always lending a helping hand.

Survivors include: mother: Bernadine of DeKalb, sons: Michael of Lisle, Dan of Geneva, brothers: Kevin (Penny) of Cortland, Jeff (Jozi) of Sycamore, special friend: Shirley Buck of Rochelle, and several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by: father: Ronald in 1997, and brother: Richard in 2019.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 25, 2023, at 1:00pm with Father Dean Russell officiating at Finch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 25, 2023, from 10:00am till the time of the service in the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service, and inurnment will take place in early spring at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb.
