Gary D. Sprague

Gary Dee Sprague, 80, of DeKalb IL, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in his home on Earl Ct. with his niece Lori and great niece Sarah by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Hattie Sprague, brothers Arlo Sprague, Elden Sprague, and sister June Keiswetter.

He was born August 13, 1942 and grew up with his siblings on his father's farm in Kansas. He graduated in 1960 from Northern Valley Highschool Almena, KS. From then he went on and served in the United States Army as an X-ray technician. He worked for Delmonte for 35 years, retired, and settled in DeKalb, IL.

He had an array of hobbies and interests. He was a lifelong bicyclist. He loved countless sports especially baseball and was a Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed a variety of music genres. He was an active sports and talk radio subscriber, reader, board/card gamer, and crossword master. He valued "rating" products, was opinionated, and competitive. He delighted in spending time with his many nieces and nephews. He was a venturesome, fun, and devoted uncle (funcle).

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses of ProMedica Hospice that cared for our uncle in his final days as well as Finch Funeral Home and Crematorium for their service. Donations to foundation of your choice can be made in lieu of flowers.

Graveside service will be held at the Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, IL on Friday October 14, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Marty Marks of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to: Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL, 60115 (815) 758-3841.
