Gladys M. Prestegaard 96 of DeKalb, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in DeKalb. She was born December 12, 1917 in DeKalb and was the daughter of John and Ethel (Flansburg) Motz.

Gladys graduated from Elburn High School. She married Vernon "Red" Prestegaard December 26, 1947 in Elburn, IL. She enjoyed visiting with friends over a cup of coffee. Gladys enjoyed traveling, golfing, and loved her family time especially with her grandson Christopher.

Survivors include; her husband Vernon "Red" Prestegaard of DeKalb, son John Prestegaard of Sycamore a grandson Christopher (Lesley) Prestegaard of Hoffman Estates, IL. Two sisters; June Parker of DeKalb and Deloris (Murel) Hill of DeKalb and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Robert, Alan and Lawrence and one sister Margaret Heidenreich.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 7:00pm at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Gilbert of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at United Lutheran Church of Lee Cemetery. Cremation will take place at Finch Crematory. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 5:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
