Guy F. Buie 11/10/1951-11/21/2023

Guy Frank Buie, 72, of Dekalb, IL (formerly of Elgin, IL) passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023. Guy was born in St. Charles, IL on November 10, 1951 to Bobbie Faye (Bell) and Arpha Leon Buie. Guy was a long time resident of Elgin, IL where he owned Guy's Autobody. He was equally known for old automobile refinishing and every day fender bender repair. His crooked smile and outgoing nature made starting a conversation with anyone come naturally; he could make friends in an instant. He loved traveling to Florida every spring in his RV with his family.  Anyone who knew Guy knew his love for all things cars. He could talk about cars for hours and hours to anyone and would attend every cruise night he possibly could. His love for cars started at a young age when he helped out at a gas station in Wayne, IL. The cars he owned and restored are too vast to list, and ranged from late 1920's street rods to 1970s muscle cars. He started his career in construction with his father and brother, but later turned to cars when he began working at Maco Paint, which lead to him opening his own business in 1979. He was always content just sitting in his recliner reading Auto Trader or in the kitchen cooking Great Northern Beans and cornbread. His stories were plentiful, his laugh joyous, and his life simple, just as he wanted. His lighthearted nature was enjoyed by all and he will be missed by family and friends. Guy was preceded in death by his parents Arpha and Louise, and his brother Al. He is survived, and will be missed by his two sons, Rodney (Maggy) and Beau (Jennie); his sister Fonda (John) Lyon, his brother Jim (Candy), sister-in-law Faith (Al); and his grandchildren Rob and Emma. A celebration of life will be held in the New Year.
