Harold Scharlau

Age 73 of DeKalb, IL, died on Friday August 6, 2021, in the Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. He was born in Elgin, IL, on August 10, 1947. Harold was a mechanic for many years, and he worked on many different automobiles, but his true love was working on his race cars.  Harold was a member of the DeKalb Moose, and was also a permanent fixture at the Sycamore Speedway where he had many fans, sponsors, friends, and pit crew members whom he adored very much. Harold has been living in the DeKalb community for the past 30 years, moving here from Elgin, IL.

Harold was married to Donna Scharlau, (deceased) Kathy Scharlau, (deceased), and Grace Scharlau, (deceased), he will be missed by his daughter: Kendra Daniels of DeKalb, son: Harold Scharlau of Las Vegas, NV, brother: Harvey Scharlau of IL, sister: Evelyn Buckner of NC, sister-in-law: Barbara Scharlau of IL, he beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Darnell, Keyanna, Jordan, Jasmine, great-grandchildren: Kamiyah, C.J., Faith, Cadan, Caylee, Dyson, Dominick, Kendrick, several nieces and nephews, and his numerous friends at the Sycamore Speedway.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday August 13, 2021, from 5:00pm till 7:00pm in the Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. Cremation was entrusted to Finch Crematory.
