James "Jim"
W. Anderson
Feb 15, 1944 — Nov 26, 2025
DeKalb
James "Jim" William Anderson
James "Jim" William Anderson of DeKalb, IL was born February 15, 1944, in Morrison, IL and on November 26, 2025, went home to His Savior at the age of 81. Jim was married to Norma (Shoop) Anderson for 1 day short of 57 years. He loved his family with his whole heart: daughter Ellisa (Erick) Lettner and son Spencer (Angela) Anderson, grandkids Amanda (Miles), Micah, Aaron (Maggie), Spencer, Andrew (Katie), Taylor and great grandsons Sylas and Shepherd.
His surviving family includes his brother Danny (Phyllis) Anderson and sister Chris (Mike) Voss. He is preceded in death by his parents Spencer and Nellie and brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Pat Anderson.
In 1962 Jim enlisted in the Marine Corp and proudly served his country until 1966 earning the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning to DeKalb he established Illini Tire Company taking care of people for 47 years.
He was known for his quick wit and his gift of story-telling. Whether sharing a story of his days of traveling, treasured time spent at the Shoop family cabin, or simply sharing a clever joke at just the right moment, he found great joy in simply making others laugh. With a chocolate malt in hand, Jim spoiled those around him with the sweetness of his words. He was loyal to those he loved and a protector of the family. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandkids, proudly celebrating every milestone. Even in his later years as his health declined, Jim kept a positive attitude, maintained a youthful spirit and remained a cowboy at heart. Above all, he demonstrated a faithful love for the Lord.
