John P. Doherty 55, of Rochelle formerly of DeKalb died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his home. He was born October 1, 1959 in DeKalb and was the son of Philip and Phyllis (Robowski) Doherty.

John graduated from DeKalb High School class of 1977 and from NIU with a Bachelor of Accountancy in 1995. He worked for the Illinois Tollway while completing his degree. He then worked as an accountant for many years for different companies in the area.

John was a past member of the DeKalb Elks Lodge #765. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, and cheering on all the Chicago Sports teams; Cubs, Blackhawks and the Bears.

Survivors include; a brother Tom (Jill) Doherty of DeKalb, two sisters; Mary Beth (Candace Herbert) Doherty of Ettrick, WI and Elaine (Jeffrey) Latimer of DeKalb, a brother-in-law Robert Meziere and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Susan M. Meziere.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 7:00pm at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Gastiger officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 4:00pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Finch Crematory and burial will be private at Fairview Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.
