John C. Tomme 80, of DeKalb, IL, passed away on December 29, 2010. John was born on June 29, 1930, in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and also held a PhD. Degree from the University of Paris ? Sorbonne. John served honorably as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. John?s professional career included a number of teaching appointments in French language including Wright Junior College, Northern Illinois University, and most recently, Kishwaukee and Waubonsee Community Colleges. A long time resident of DeKalb, John was active in his church choir at St. Mary Parish. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald. He is survived by his brothers Howard and Stephen, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at St. Mary?s Parish, 321 Pine St. DeKalb, IL on Tuesday, January 4th at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary?s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the local chapter of The Alzheimer?s Association.
