John William "Yogi" Witthuhn

John William "Yogi" Witthuhn 73, of DeKalb passed away on October 1, 2023, at 2:27pm in the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born July 21, 1950, in Elgin, IL and was the son of Gerhard J. and Ingeborg (Rohwedel) Witthuhn.

John graduated from Elgin High School in 1968, he then went on to Bradley University earning his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and master's degree in Business Administration. He married Karen Tadd on August 14, 1993, at the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb. John worked as an electrical engineer for Sargent & Lundy in Chicago, IL.

Survivors include; Wife; Karen of DeKalb, sister; Sue Horton of Elgin, nephews; Douglas and Bradley Horton, and brother in law; Gary (Tammy) Tadd. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 10:00am at Glad Tidings Assembly of God 2325 N 1st St. DeKalb, IL with Pastor Brandon Arneson officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at Fairview Park Cemetery. Lunch will be serviced at the church following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Glad Tidings Assembly of God.  Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
