Joy L. Larson

Joy L. Larson 75, of Sycamore died Thursday, July 14, 2022, at her home in Lake Mills, WI.  She was born on September 5, 1946, in DeKalb and was the daughter of Robert J. and Jeanette I. (Wallis) Baker.

She attended West Aurora High School and earned her GED in 1968. She worked at Duplex Products Inc. for 19 years and then Ideal Industries for 13 years before retiring in 2011.  She married Rodney D. Larson on April 1, 1986, in Punta Gorda, FL.

Joy enjoyed crafting and collecting antiques. Her creativity was very evident in her many poems, letters, and decorating skills.  She also loved socializing with friends, whether it be here in the DeKalb area or up at the house in Lake Mills, WI where they spent lots of time in the summer.  Joy was a wedding officiant for many including family and close friends.

Survivors include husband; Rodney D. Larson of Sycamore, three sons; Jon (Linda Basak) Isham of Belvidere, IL, Dean (Anna) Beck of DeKalb, and Chad Beck of Deerfield, IL. Three stepdaughters; Dana Larson-Smethurst of DeKalb, Erica Larson of Sycamore, and Krista (Eric) Boles of Aurora, IL.  Grandchildren; Alexandra (Evan) Froehlich and Austin (Candace Carter) Isham. Great-grandchildren; Everly and Knox, step great grandchild; Cheyenne, and countless friends.  Joy was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the Knights of Columbus 1336 E. Lincoln Hwy in DeKalb.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.  Cremation will be handled by Finch Crematory and arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
