Katherine A. "Ann" Smith

Katherine A. "Ann" Smith 87, of DeKalb, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in DeKalb. She was born March 31, 1937, in Harrisburg, AR and was the daughter of Newton and Diva (Crenshaw) Green.

Ann proudly graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1955. Just two years later, on June 28, 1957, she married the love of her life, Henry B. Smith, in the warmth of the preacher's house in Harrisburg, AR. With dedication and skill, she served as the secretary and bookkeeper for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in DeKalb Local 612 for many years. A woman of faith, Ann was a devoted member of Sycamore United Methodist Church. She had a deep love for sports, cheering passionately for the Green Bay Packers and the Arkansas Razorbacks, always bringing enthusiasm and spirit to every game.

Survivors include; 3 children; Cindy (Brad) Miller of DeKalb, Marc (Regine) Smith of Maple Park, and Greg (Lisa) Smith of Hazelhurst, WI. Four grandchildren; Amanda (Kyle) Rath of Oswego, Katherine Smith of Elburn, Brian (Michelle) Miller of Maple Park, and Brent (Taylor) Miller of Maple Park. Six great grandchildren; Brooklynn, Aiden, Emerson, Brynlee, Melanie, and Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Henry, sisters; Norma Holt, Ramona Ainsworth, and Nita Green. Great grandson; Beau, and infant son; Ronald.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 3:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Pastor Luis Reyes of Sycamore United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 1:00pm–3:00pm at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
