Katherine Morsch
Katherine Morsch, 67, of DeKalb, passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at home. She was born on August 12, 1956, in Chicago, IL to Lt. Robert H. and Marjorie M. (Butsback) Lynch.
Katie graduated from Amundsen High School in Chicago, IL in 1975. She married Brian Morsch on December 14, 2001 at Chapel of the Pines in Sycamore. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb.
Katie had a vibrant 30-year real estate career in DeKalb County, starting with Betsy Smith Real Estate, followed by Century 21, ERA and finally serving her last 14 years with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Group where she consistently achieved Top-Producing agent status. Her hard work and outstanding service earned her recognition as Realtor of the Year in 2005. Katie was a compassionate mentor to many young real estate agents and a respected colleague to her peers throughout the industry.
Over the years, Katie also spent time serving her community by volunteering for First Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School, Meals on Wheels, The Christmas Morning Fund benefiting Hope Haven and Safe Passage, and multiple dog adoption events for Tails Humane Society.
Katie had many gifts, but most notable was her extraordinary personality. She was big hearted, vivacious, and radiated light. She accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile. Her special gift for immediately connecting with people, comforting someone in pain and making people laugh was an inspiration to everyone around her. She will forever be remembered for all the heart she shared with her family and friends. She truly loved each of them, and if you knew her, you knew it.
Survivors include her husband, Brian; daughter-in-law, Heidi (John) Gaskill; stepson, Anthony (Bryanne) Morsch; sisters, Maureen Van Dorn (late Edward); Sally (Tom) Powers; and Patti (Bill) Ferche; grandchildren, Tristan Jeffrey Lalowski; Mary Katherine Lalowski; and Vivian Morsch; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a circle of friends beyond measure. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two sons; Jeffrey Matthew Lalowski in 1993 and Donald Robert Lalowski in 2015.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at First Lutheran Church, DeKalb with Pastor Janet Hunt officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at which time funeral service will begin. A private family burial will take place at Mt. Caramel Cemetery in Sycamore at a later date.
Per Katie's wishes, in lieu of flowers, a college fund for her grandchildren has been established with Resource Bank. If you wish to contribute, please make checks payable to Brian Morsch with memo of education fund.
Arrangements are entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
