Kathy Qualkinbush

Kathy Qualkinbush (nèe Shoemaker) 71 of DeKalb passed away Thursday November 18, 2021, at the Bethany Health Care and Rehab in DeKalb. She was born on January 12, 1950 in Dixon, Illinois, and she was the daughter of Arthur and Mary Jane (Stomberg) Shoemaker. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mary Jane Shoemaker and her brother Mark. She is survived by her daughters Jessica (Chuck) Atkinson and CJ Qualkinbush, her brothers Joel and Brad (Yvette) and sister-in law Maja Shoemaker, her nephews, and her grandsons Tyler, Aidan, and Declan Atkinson.

Kathy will always be remembered for her adventurous spirt that included her love of aviation. She learned to fly, obtaining her pilots license in 1992. She owned and operated skydiving facilities in Georgia and Illinois in the 1990's and worked at Win Aviation until her death. She was an avid skydiver with over 800 jumps.  She loved seeing the world, traveling to 11 countries, and camping all over the US in her camper she named KOKO.

Visitation will be held at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb on January 8 ^th , 2022, from 1:00PM till 3:00PM. Cremation was entrusted to Finch Crematory.
