Kay Ward

Kay Ward (Busse), 82, of DeKalb, IL, passed away peacefully at home November 8, 2023.

She was born March 5, 1941, in Dixon, IL. The daughter of Charles and Evelyn Busse.

She leaves behind 4 daughters, Kathy (Mark) Newlon, Patty Smith, Debra (Scott) Sheridan, and Kim (Charles) Harvel; 11 grandchildren, Julia (Nate) Evans, Jen (Ben) Carmona, Andrew (Becky) Smith, Samantha (Kerry) Williams, Sean Smith, Amanda (Guillermo) Lara, Amber Shields, Brandon (Jackie) Shields, Skylar Shields, Alexander Marrero, and Jayden Hernandez; and 30 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Mother; 2 Sisters and 1 Brother.

Kay was a woman of strength who enjoyed family gatherings with her daughters and grandchildren. She also could often be found spending time at parks and trails enjoying the outdoors.

We would like to give a special thank you to her granddaughter Amber Shields who she said was her best friend during her illness, also her caregiver and companion. Thank you for taking such good care of her for all of us.
