Larry Schultz
Our dad, Larry Schultz (67), passed away in his home surrounded by family on January 11, 2023. He was born to Raymond and Ina Schultz on June 9, 1955. He worked as a paperboy until he turned 16 and was able to start employment at Eagle Food Store. He graduated from DeKalb High School in 1973.
In his free time, he loved playing fast pitch softball, where he would receive the 'Best Sportsmanship Award' multiple times. In 1983, as fate would have it, he met his future wife, Barb (Faivre) at a North Side vs South Side Eagle softball game. They dated for a year and a half and were married on June 1, 1985.
In 1988, he made the leap from Eagle to pursue his dream of owning a full-service maintenance business, Toolin' Around. He enjoyed getting to know his customers and treated many like family. Larry liked learning new skills and being able to set his own hours to make sure he could be home with Barb and his two children Kate and Wesley.
Larry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barb (Faivre), his favorite daughter Kate and favorite son Wes (Lauryn) and soon to be granddaughter. His mother, Ina Schultz, sister, Annette (Dan) Butt and brother, Richard (Cindy), Niece, Amy (Cameron) Nissen, and nephews Michael and Eric Schultz all of DeKalb.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Schultz in 1994.
A very special thank you to Dr. Thakkar and his nurse Shirley at NM RMG for the care and compassion they have given Larry over the years. And to NM Kish Hospital ER, IMCU and Y-1 staff for the excellent care he received during his many stays.
