Marc D. Shipman

Marc D. Shipman, 68, of Sycamore, Illinois, passed away June 11, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Born in March of 1958 to Laurence and Rosann Shipman, Marc lived to his absolute fullest.

Marc is survived by his best friend and wife of 36 years, Mary G. Shipman (Witchek); his children, Madison Shipman, Chris (Amanda) Campbell, Brian Campbell, Jeff (Jessica) Campbell; his grandchildren, Megan, Addie, Cal, Collin, Lachlan; his brothers Bob Shipman, Tim (Victoria) Shipman, and James Shipman; sisters, Lorraine (Chuck) Martellaro, Lynda (Michael) Thelen and Lisa Rapp. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence & Rosann Shipman.

Marc graduated DeKalb High in 1976 before turning to a life of adventure. Whether it was his; combined 9 years at Shipman Standard, working with his beloved father Bloop, his years served on the hundreds of race tracks he learned like the back of his hand, or the 38 loyal years with Ford; he accepted his challenges and no matter what, he held his head high.

Marc always was and will be a man who served his community. He was a 765 Elks Club life member like his father before him. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts for over 25 years and was a positive role model to so many throughout his lifetime. Marc was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and took pride in doing so. A devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather; he left a monumental impression on those he came into contact with. He will live on in all of our hearts to the end of our days. We love and cherish him always.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. The funeral service will be held on Friday June 19th, 2026, at 11:00am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 815-758-3841.
