Marianne Beck
Marianne Beck 74, of Oak Hills, CA died May 26, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Apple Valle, CA after an epic battle with respiratory disease. She passed away peacefully and gently with her John holding her hand. Marianne was born on July 10, 1941 in Waterman, IL and was the daughter of Peter and Julia (Duffy) Johnson.
Marianne graduated from DeKalb High School in 1959. Throughout her life she was a strong advocate for education and subsequently graduated from Grossmont College, California State University Sacramento, and Lincoln Law School.
On November 18, 1967 Marianne married John Beck and they spent the next 48 ½ mostly rollicking years living in California, Utah, and Washington following John's banking career. During those years Marianne worked in the legal profession, highlighted by her years in the city of Roseville, CA legal department and being first assistant to Thomas Martin, Former California Assistant Attorney General.
Marianne always supported charities and activities wherever she and John lived. She was especially proud of her service to Assistance League and her presidency of the Lancaster Chapter.
Survivors include; husband John, brothers Donald (Linda) Johnson and Peter (Susan) Johnson. Many nieces and nephews including; Pat (Laurie) Beck, James (Carly) Beck, Angela Jakubzak, Brad (Jodie) Johnson, and Andrew (Heidi) Johnson. Also, special pals Mandy and Marco. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Theresa, and niece Terrie.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with Father Dean Russell officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb with a Wake Service at 6:30pm. Private Burial will take place at St. James Calvary Cemetery in Lee, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.
