Marianne Thorson age 95 of DeKalb, IL, died on Tuesday November 2, 2010 in the Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb, IL. Born on August 20, 1915 in Galva, IL, she was the daughter of Arvid R. and Frances (Peterson) Granquist.
Marianne was married to the late O. Lewis Thorson on November 7, 1942 in Chicago, IL; he preceded her in death on February 11, 2001. Marianne was a licensed cosmetologist where she had a shop in Chicago and Naperville. Marianne has lived in the DeKalb community since 1990, moving here from Naperville. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Naperville. Marianne was an avid card player, she was very active, and most recently took a trip to San Diego, CA, for her grandson?s wedding. She enjoyed being with her family, and really enjoyed her time at Linda?s Touch of Class, where she was sharing the latest news. She graduated from Galva High School class of 1933, and then went onto graduate from Cosmetology School.
Survivors include: sister: Marjorie Nearing of Dayton, OH, daughters: Luanne Thorson, Mary (Paul) Vittone both of DeKalb, grandchildren: Tawny Sisul, Francie (fiancé Tom Cholewa) Sisul, Jerome (Kristina Dahlgren Sisul) Sisul, David (Danielle Kiggins) Sisul, Paula (Manny) DeJesus, Marty (Krista) Vittone, Tracy (Casey Whitaker) Vittone, Joy (Jon) Walter, great-grandchildren: Alex, Renee, Dominic DeJesus, Olivia Vittone, Josie Walter, Tommy Cholewa. Preceded in death by: parents, husband: Lewis, sister: Helen Griffith, and brother: Harold Granquist.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 6, 2010 at 11:30 am in the Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home with Ivan Jones conducting the services. Burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery DeKalb. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 6, 2010 at 10:00 am till the time of the service in the funeral home.
