Marsha A.
Royalty
Oct 14, 1955 — Nov 17, 2024
DeKalb
Marsha A. Royalty, 69, of DeKalb, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, embraced by her daughter, sisters, and loved ones. Born on October 14, 1955, in DeKalb to John "Jack" and Helen (Suknaich) Alexander, Marsha lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication.
Marsha graduated from DeKalb High School in 1973. A brilliant businesswoman, she owned and operated Four Seasons Sports in Sycamore for 47 years alongside Dennis "Doc" Royalty. The business became a beacon of joy and community spirit under her leadership, creating countless fond memories for the people of Sycamore.
A devoted member of Christ Community Church in DeKalb, Marsha generously volunteered her time and effort to various causes and organizations. She was also a passionate member of the Fox Valley Bowling Proprietors Association, Illinois State Bowling Proprietors, and the DAUSBC.
Marsha's incredible spirit touched everyone who knew her. She loved reading, playing cards with family and friends, community service, and enjoying BINGO nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays. An avid fan of cop shows, Marsha fancied herself a detective, but her true talent was making people laugh. Known as the life of the party, Marsha never met a stranger and cherished every moment spent with her friends, family, sisters and especially her best friends, Michelle Gribble and Anne Kijowski – oh the stories these ladies could tell!
Marsha is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Royalty of DeKalb; sisters, Shirlee (Ed) Davis of Aurora, CO, Lorlie (Jerry) Schwartz of Alexander City, AL, and Melissa (Randy) Coppert of Sycamore; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Kimberly Vera.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Berry and Dr. Thakkar for their exceptional care. Marsha's playful spirit often led her to believe she could treat herself and Dr. Thakkar, keeping everyone on their toes.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb on Monday, November 25, 2024, followed by a service officiated by Pastor Gus McDonald. Cremation will follow, with burial at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb at a later date. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marsha's life at Christ Community Church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Community Church in DeKalb or the American Heart Association.
