Marvin B. Romanski

Marvin B. Romanski, 82, of Malta, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet; four children, Lance (Kristie) of Paw Paw, Debbie (Scott) Allen of Seattle, Kim (Vern) Baumgartner of Roselle, and Chad (Kristin) of Chicago; 5 grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Olson of Rockford, Robert Romanski of Dixon, Aubree (Trevor) Zesiger of Mukilteo, Lindsey Allen of Seattle, and Ava Romanski of Chicago; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Max Olson of Rockford. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Russell and Frank.

He was born on March 4, 1940, to Eugene and Phyllis (Stachura) Romanski of Elgin and graduated from Barrington High School in 1957. After high school, he proudly served our country in the Army for over 3 years. He then attended Northern Illinois University, were he met and married Janet Julia Sauter of Malta on January 27, 1962, in DeKalb. They settled at the family farm in Malta, where he farmed for many years with his father-in-law. In 1981, he became a multi-peril crop insurance adjuster for 5 years before joining and selling insurance through Reising Insurance Agency. He retired in 2002. During his life, he and Janet traveled extensively with good friends Don (Karen) Gritmaker and Laverne (Josephine) Weiland.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, from 12:00pm – 2:00 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 10 ^th , 2023, at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Chaplain Lance Mennen officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at Malta Cemetery in Malta, IL with full military honors provided by DeKalb American Legion Post #66.
