St. Charles
Mary Jo Widick
On April 25 th . 2023 Our mom, Mary Jo Widick passed away to join her husband Don in heaven. Mary Jo Gregovich was born to Joe Gregovich and a mother she did not know; she was raised by her grandfather and father. Her father remarried Vivian Barnett whom Mary considered her mother. Mary met her husband Don while they both worked at the IGA in Evansville Indiana. They had two children Kim and David (Carrie) and two grandchildren Morgan and Joseph. Mary Jo was very proud of her grandchildren and spoiled them. Our mom would speak about how she wanted to go to college and be a chemist. I believe deep in my heart she wanted to be a chemist but during that time in history women got married and had a family while the husband was the breadwinner. I believe that is why she always drove my sister and myself so hard to be successful. Hard work was very important to her, and she instilled that in my sister and me, which seems like such a lost concept today. Looking back, I feel she only wanted the best for my sister and me. She loved country music and the great Smoky Mountains. Decorating the house for Christmas was a highlight of her year and boy was she a good cook. She rarely told stories about her life, but she did have one story about a yellow jeep she used to have in high school. Mary Jo went to Mater Dei High School.
She worked at Sears at North Park in Evansville Indiana, Northern Illinois University in Printing Services.
Cremation was entrusted to: Finch Funeral Home and the burial was in Fairview Park Cemetery.
