Mary A. Zanini age 91 of DeKalb, IL died on Sunday March 30. 2014 in the DeKalb County Rehab. and Nursing Center in DeKalb. Born on October 13, 1922 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Marko and Anna (Plesha) Peterlich.
Mary was married to the late Stephen T. Zanini on June 17, 1967 in Chicago, IL. Mary was a telephone operator for many years working for Illinois Bell Telephone Company. Mary has lived in the DeKalb community for many years, moving here from Belleview, FL. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption in Maple Park; she was also a member of the K.S.K.J., and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School, and attended Bowen High School.
Survivors include: step-children: Marilyn Melvan of Orland Park, IL, Barb (Ken) Ayse of FL, Stephen (Jane) Zanini of , NC, step-grandchildren: Joyce, Julie, John, Keri, Lori, Stephen, Nicole, 7 step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews: Ann Marie, Sharon, Cooky, Brian, Patty, Mary Ann, Frank, Diane, and 21 great-nieces and nephews, several great-great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents, husband: Stephen T. Zanini, sister: Catherine Babich, brothers: George, John, Michael, Eli, Eli H., Thomas, nephew: George Babich, and niece: Diane Zitko.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 10:00AM in the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption in Maple Park with Father Dennis Morrissy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL, on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 2:00PM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 9:00AM till the time of the service in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the DeKalb County Rehab. and Nursing Center of the Barb City Manor. To send an online condolence visit www.ronanmoorefinch.com.
