Patricia A. Sauter
Patricia Anne (Moore) Sauter passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at Lincolnshire Place of Sycamore. She was born May 2, 1939, at St. Mary's Hospital in DeKalb, IL to Edward and Evelyn (Masterson) Moore.
During her childhood Pat's family lived in Sandwich and Belvidere, and then eventually moved back to DeKalb permanently. Pat attended St. Mary's School and graduated from DeKalb Township High School in 1957. During her school years and throughout her lifetime, Pat made many dear friends, all of whom she very much cherished.
Pat married Robert (Bob) Sauter on May 27, 1961. Although they knew of each other in high school, their story really started when they began writing to one another while Bob was in the Navy. They started their family in Elva and then settled south of DeKalb in 1970, where Pat remained for several years after Bob passed away. In their retirement years Pat and Bob enjoyed travels around the U.S. as well as the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Mexico.
After high school, Pat worked at the Health Service at Northern Illinois University (NIU) until her first child was born. In 1971, she returned to the workforce and was employed at a DeKalb law firm, Fourth Street Motors, and the Kishwaukee Country Club. In 1980 she returned to NIU. She retired in 2000 after many happy and illustrious years as administrative secretary for the NIU Office of University Council and Faculty Senate.
Pat is survived by her children, Anne (Charles) Seitzinger and John (Christine) Sauter, both of DeKalb; six treasured grandchildren, Connor (Nicole) Seitzinger of Sycamore, IL, Elizabeth (TJ) Weaver of Norman, OK, Jack Sauter of Chicago, IL, Lance Sauter of Ft. Collins, CO, Jim Sauter of Denver, CO, and Luke Sauter of DeKalb; and dear great granddaughter, Layla Seitzinger. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Deborah (Richard) Brown of Bluffton, SC; nieces and nephews (Kelly, Quinn, Sarah, and Bernardo), four great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Patricia Moore; several loving cousins, and a very special group of cherished friends.
Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob in 2017, her parents; brother, John Moore; infant sister, Linda Joy Moore; her paternal grandparents, her beloved maternal grandparents, Charles and Marie Masterson, and some very dear friends.
Pat's family wish to express their gratitude to the staff of Lincolnshire Place and Dr. Dhaval Thakkar, Ruth Ann, and Shirley for their dedicated and compassionate care.
