Paul Terry Valentiner
Paul Terry Valentiner was born on October 16, 1933, and died on November 11, 2017. He is survived by three children: Michael Valentiner of Minneapolis, MN, Michele (Merrill) Matsuda of Pearl City, HI; and David Valentiner (Nina Mounts) of DeKalb; and step-daughter Vicky (Alan) Murray of Greendale, WI; and 12 grandchildren (Zachary, Ellis, and Micah Valentiner; Samantha, Shelly, and Kaitlyn Matsuda; Caleb and Adam Weiss; Sarah and Leah Valentiner; and Kate and Liz). Paul was ordained as a Lutheran minister in 1954 and served congregations in Elmont, NY; Brooklyn, NY; Bronx, NY; Port Jefferson, NY; Fresno, CA; and Morro Bay, CA. He had degrees in theology, divinity, and urban planning, and a contagious faith. He loved photography, spicy food, and corny jokes. I can picture him even now dishing out a few zingers. He was kind, gentle, and had a gift for listening to others. There will be a private service in memory of Paul Valentiner for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions can be sent to the ELCA World Hunger Fund (https://community.elca.org/givenow?_ga=2.211384853.1899381414.1510709513-1016537935.1510709513) or to Barb City Manor (https://barbcitymanor.org/). Arrangements were entrusted to: Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL, 60115 (815) 758-3841.
