Richard A. Carlson Sr. age 73 of DeKalb, IL, died on Friday September 17, 2010 in his residence in DeKalb. Born on February 6, 1937 in DeKalb, he was the son of Walter and Charlotte (Nachtigall) Carlson.

Richard was married to the former Patricia Sohne on May 5, 1956 in DeKalb. Richard was the Head of Maintenance for the DeKalb County Housing Authority for 25 years, and prior to working there he had worked for the Wurlitzer Piano Factory in DeKalb. He has lived all his life in the DeKalb community, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb. Richard enjoyed his golf outings to River Heights Golf Course, and he also enjoyed woodworking. He graduated from DeKalb Township High School class of 1955.

Survivors include: wife Patricia of DeKalb, children: Linda Carlson of DeKalb, Jacky (David) Mohr of Kirkland, Richard A. (Pamela) Carlson Jr. of Mesa, AZ, grandchildren: Caitlin Carlson of DeKalb, Richard A. Carlson III, Sierra Carlson, Mallory Carlson all of Mesa, AZ, sister: Rita Whitney of Algonquin, IL, brothers: William (Mary) Carlson of Pecatonica, Chuck Carlson of Sycamore. Preceded in death only by his parents.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 21, 2010 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Cremation has taken place in the Finch Crematory, and burial of cremains will place in Fairview Park Cemetery at a later date.
