Robert "Dean" Pearson

Robert "Dean" Pearson, 77, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at home, surrounded by his girls.  Dean was born September 25, 1938, in DeKalb, the son of Leonard and Margaret (Colvin) Pearson.  Dean was an accomplished musician, playing both the bass guitar and drums.  However, he was most known for his drum playing, playing in many area bands such as JB Plus, The Jerry Nunnally Band, and as an honorary member of The Squares.  Music was his life.  From Stevie Rae Vaughn to Count Basie, he loved it all.  Except country music.  To quote one of his favorite drummers, Buddy Rich: "The only thing I'm allergic to is Country Music."

Dean married Carole Cutts Anderson in November 1970.  Together they had two daughters, Nikki (Keith) Newsom and Traca (Al) Crowley, both of DeKalb.  Dean was a devoted lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in DeKalb, serving on the Board of Trustees and also was an active member of the Moose.  He was the curator of "Pearson Park," taking great pride his lawn.  Prior to retiring from the City of DeKalb in 2001, Dean worked for many years at the Glass and Key Shop.  However, his years at the City were by far his greatest working years, as he cultivated many friendships that lasted through the last years of his life.  Even after retirement, he considered himself a city employee, and was always proud to say so.

Dean was an incredibly hard working and honest man, always willing to lend a hand no matter how much he had to do.  Known for his outgoing personality and sense of humor; his ability to remember and tell jokes was impeccable.  He will be greatly missed at family and friend functions, as he was the life of the party.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Pearson.
