Robert W. Schneider, 80, of DeKalb, died Wednesday night, October 17, 2013 in Kishwaukee Hospital. Robert was born May 28, 1933 in Loudonville, Ohio and was the son of the late Richard H. and V. Marie (Bernhard) Schneider. He was a graduate of Wooster College in Wooster, Ohio and earned a Ph D. in history from the University of Minnesota. Robert retired from the History Department at Northern Illinois University where he taught for many years. He is the author of two books and several publications on American History.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marianne whom he married on March 15, 1983, his children: Richard J. Schneider of San Diego, CA, Ronald E. (Charlotte) Schneider of Boulder, CO, and Lynne E. Schneider (Leland J. Scott) of Eagan, MN; his step-children: Nelson (Charlene) Kepner and Mary Garrison and his sisters, Barbara Harris of Waterford, MI and Bonnie Weirick of Perrysville, OH.
