Roberto A. Vieyra

Roberto A. Vieyra 56, of Malta, IL passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. He was born August 4, 1969, in Mexico and was the son of Jose and Maria (Albor) Vieyra.

Roberto earned his GED and pursued studies in automotive technology at Kishwaukee College. He married the love of his life, Cynthia Schmidt, on September 22, 1997, in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Prior to coming to the United States, Roberto worked as an electrician and landscaper in Mexico.

Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, Roberto spent many years working on horse farms throughout the area and across the country. Most recently, he was employed at Butler Family Farms and Amber Sun Acres, both in Malta, and also worked as a dairy hand milking cows at Plapps Farm in Creston. Roberto took great pride in his work, and his warm smile, kind spirit, and friendly greeting will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife; Cindy of Malta, daughter Karrisa of DeKalb, four brothers and four sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Samuel and Abel.

Celebration of life visitation will be held on January 22, 2026, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. Memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
