Roger Lewis Willrett Jr.

Roger Lewis Willrett Jr., 66, of Cortland, IL passed away Saturday morning, September 28, 2024, at home. He was born November 14, 1957, in DeKalb, IL, the son of Roger and Shirley Willrett. Roger married Janet Weydert on March 24, 2017.

Roger was a graduate of Malta High School class of 1976. He worked as a tiler for Bish Excavating for 16 years and Babson Farms for the past 11 years. He was a master at field tiling and loved is job. He, unfortunately, had to retire due to his health. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his son, Nathan (Erin) Willrett; his daughter Brianne (David) Gauder, and stepsons Zachary and Garrett Weydert. His parents; Roger and Shirley, siblings, Penny (Kevin) Meier, Cindy Fairfield, Robert Willrett, and Tracie Pratt. He had five grandchildren; Graham and Claire Willrett, Jackson and Zoey Gauder, and Hendrix Weydert. He is survived by several nieces and nephews who will remember him as the uncle who loved to tease them.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Fatty's Pub in DeKalb, IL from 3:00pm-6:00pm. A small prayer service will be held at 4:30pm.

The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice for their wonderful care and support through Roger's battle with cancer.
