Ruby A. Poff

Ruby A. Poff 92, of DeKalb died Saturday July 21, 2018 at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.  She was born March 20, 1926 in Johnston City, IL and was the daughter of Loren and Laura (Atkins) Childers.

Ruby graduated from Johnston City Township High School in 1944.  She married James L. Poff Sr. in 1945 and moved to the DeKalb area where she raised her family. In 1959 Ruby started her career with Sears Roebuck and Co. she progressed through four store locations and six store managers.  Many DeKalb and Sycamore residents would say Ruby "is" Sears and Roebuck Co.  She received a 30 year sapphire pin for her dedication to the company as the catalog supervisor.   In her younger years Ruby enjoyed vacationing and was an excellent water skier.  Ruby loved spending time with her family especially her grandkids.

Survivors include; son; Michael H. (Susan Roland) Poff of DeKalb, sisters; Lorene Lyell, Linda Hale, and Kae (Bill) Collins, daughter-in-law; Marci Poff.  Grandchildren; Michael (Jill) Poff, Jamie (Kim) Poff, and Jodi Poff.  Great Grandchildren; Amberlyn Mitchey, Christian Mitchey, Garrett Poff , McKenna Poff, Alyssa Poff, Kinnedy Poff, Kathryn Nix and Mason Poff, Great-Great Grandson Carson Poff. Numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James L. Poff Sr., son James L. Poff Jr., sisters Flora Wood, Helen Crabtree, Jewell Evans, Opal Guthrie, and Betty Lou Miller. Brothers Francis, Louis and Donald, and sister-in-law Gladys Liddick.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:30am at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb with Pastor Kevin Spears of the Fellowship Baptist Church in DeKalb officiating.  Burial will be immediately following at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home DeKalb.  In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date. The family of Ruby would like to thank the caring staff of DeKalb County Rehab. and Nursing Center for all the loving care they gave.
