Sandra B. Gunther

Sandra B. Gunther 81, of DeKalb passed away surrounded by her family Sunday, May 11, 2025, at her home. She was born July 1, 1943, in Beaver, PA and was the daughter of Virgil and Mary (Nier) Voris.

Sandra married the love of her life, John F. Gunther, on March 3, 1962, at the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing on November 29, 2024.

A devoted mother, Sandra dedicated herself to raising her children with love and care before sharing her warmth and talent as a cook at DeKalb High School. Her passions brought joy to many—whether through the delicious meals she lovingly prepared, the beautifully decorated cakes she crafted, or the clothes and quilts she sewed by hand.

Family meant everything to Sandra. She treasured time spent with her loved ones, and her kind, nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a special fondness for cats, a knack for finding the perfect bargain while shopping, and a joyful tradition of lunch dates with dear friends that always brightened her days.

Survivors include; two children; Kenneth (Robin) Gunther of Yorktown, VA and Nicole (Victor) Bledsoe of DeKalb. Grandchildren; Chloe Gunther and Conner Gunther both of Yorktown, VA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, son Jeffrey, and brother Steven Voris.
