Sandra "Sandy" J. Kotek

Sandra "Sandy" J. Kotek died on February 13, 2020, in Kingwood, Texas. She was 71.

Aunt Sandy was born on August 13, 1948 in Garrett, IN, to her parents, Robert and Dorothy (McClosky) Byanski. She married Thomas Kotek in 1976. While Sandy spent most of her married life in the Chicagoland area, the last few years were spent with her husband in her "dream house with a kitchen pot filler" in Texas.

Aunt Sandy loved to cook, review recipes, listen to music, watch movies, and read.  While Sandy did not have children, she did have many nieces and nephews she loved and adored.  In particular, Aunt Sandy often referred to Kandice and Lydia as the daughters she never had. She was immensely proud that they both earned advanced degrees and were educators. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kotek.

Sandy will be interned with her husband in a private memorial at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Illinois . Arrangements were entrusted to: Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL, 60115 (815) 758-3841.
