Sandra L. Protano

Sandra L. Protano 63, of DeKalb passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. She was born July 13, 1960, in Sycamore and was the daughter of Ronald G. and Christine (Spartz) Burtzos.

Sandra graduated from Malta High School in 1978. She married David A. Protano on July 18, 1981, in Las Vegas, NV. Sandra worked for NIU in the building services department as a building foreman for 20 plus years retiring in 2016. She also worked in housekeeping at Oakcrest up until her passing. Sandra loved cooking, shopping and spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include; husband David of DeKalb, daughter; Lyndsy (Adam) MacNeille of DeKalb, sister; Suzanne (David) Haltom of Katy, TX. Four grandchildren; Dominick Allen, Brayden MacNeille, Jaxson MacNeille all of DeKalb, and Jayden MacNeille of Alabama. One great granddaughter on the way and numerous cousins.

Private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
