Shirley Ann Johnson, 86, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Anthony?s Medical Center in Rockford, IL. Shirley was born March 25, 1928 to Stanley and Edna (Voy) Bogdonas in Rockford. She married Jerome Johnson in Rockford on May 27, 1947.
Shirley was a vibrant beautiful lady always with a beautiful smile, who loved animals, decorating, and anything "pink". She was an awesome cook and took pride in how she looked ? always looked and dressed very classy. And she loved her entire family. In her earlier years she was a cook at various school cafeterias, including Pleasant View and Dakota High School. Shirley and her husband Jerry farmed in the Dakota/Rock City area for many years. We will all miss her terribly.
She is survived by her son James S. (Marilyn) Johnson of DeKalb, her daughter Marikae (Keith) Johnson of Freeport, grandchildren Matthew (Nikki) Johnson, Jacquelyn (Samuel) Finch, Lindsay (Michael) Kukla, Lori (Todd) Jones, Lisa (Julio Lara) Johnson, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special dog, Sheila Ann, and her companion Jeffrey L. Wills.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her fiancée Millard Weber, a brother Donald, and two infant grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 1:00pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL with Pastor Dan Wynard of Alpine Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be immediately following the services at Calvary Cemetery in Winnebago, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 11:00am until the time of service.
