She is survived by her four children: Mary (husband Jack) Halverson of Vero Beach, FL, John (wife Jan) Noplos of Darwin, MN, Anthony (wife Cindy) Noplos of Sycamore, IL, and Bess (husband Ron) Dannewitz of Ocala, FL.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Noplos, 4 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandchildren, Sean Noplos and Jacquelyn Dannewitz, and 1 great-grandchild, Jaxon Carlson.

Velva?s name was changed to Pug when she was very young because her sister Grace would not pronounce Velva and then when she went to school she became Peg. Peg?s husband George liked the idea and he would sing to her the song "Peg of My Heart".

Peg was introduced to George Noplos by her sister Grace. After a whirlwind courtship of 17 days, they were married and moved to DeKalb. They were married for 47 years until his death in 1985. After George?s passing, Peg moved to Arizona where she enjoyed basking in the sun for 23 years. In 2010 she moved to Missouri for 3 ½ years to be near her daughter Bess.

She began her first job in 1938 at Ideal Industries making airplanes for the war. Peg then enjoyed her time as a soda girl at Lehan?s (Walgreens) in DeKalb. She also worked at Leslie?s Shoe Store and Ace Hardware. She loved people so much that the DeKalb Rotary Club voted her the Best Sales Clerk in DeKalb for the month of November 1957.

She was a member of the Barb City Boat Club. Peg loved to travel and she and George had a wonderful trip to Greece and the Islands before George died. All of her other trips were to Hawaii, Arizona, California, Minnesota, Canada and Las Vegas for her favorite game ? the nickel slots. Peg also enjoyed playing double-deck pinnacle with the Boat Club friends on Saturday nights.
