Virginia R. "Ginny" Knetsch 95, of DeKalb, IL died Friday July 26, 2013 at home. She was born December 22, 1917 in Compton, Illinois and was the daughter of Clifford and Ruth (Blatzberg) Ogilvie. She attended Mendota High School and the University of Illinois Beauty School in Bloomington, Illinois and later owned her own beauty salon in Compton. Ginny used to tell of the day when her salon charge for a ladies permanent wave, hair color, style and cut was only a quarter. After an eight year, long distance courtship, she was united in marriage to Stanley Knetsch in 1943. Ginny became a licensed realtor and enjoyed selling real estate for the William F. Minnihan Agency in DeKalb. She created many wonderful memories when the family spent time at their lakeside cabin. Ginny and Stan enjoyed their winters in Ft. Meyers, Florida where they golfed, fished, and socialized with friends. Virginia loved cooking for her family and friends, neighborhood party?s, NIU football games, The DeKalb City band concerts, and playing bridge with her special card groups. Some of her favorite times were impromptu sessions where she would play the piano and friends would sing along. Ginny was a member of the Ladies? Auxiliary of Kishwaukee Hospital and for many years volunteered in the hospital gift shop and making floral arrangements for their "Potpourri" holiday sales. She attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in DeKalb and made many good friends there. Virginia is preceded in death by her Parents, Clifford and Ruth, her husband, Stanley Wells Knetsch, and two brothers, Norman and George Ogilvie. She is survived by one son, Stanley Bruce Knetsch, a daughter Tana (James Dionisopoulos) Knetsch, grandson Matthew (Amanda) Dionisopoulos, granddaughters Christy (Dan) Haug, and Lindie (Brian) Baumann. Great grandsons include, Zachary, Ian, Kellen and Casin. In addition, Ginny is survived by several nieces and nephews. In her final year, Ginny was blessed to have a very special care giver, Elizabeth Wozny, who became her wonderful friend and a part of her family. Ginny will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
