William C. Todtz IV
William C. Todtz IV 29, of Cortland passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at his home. He was born December 2, 1996, in Peoria, IL and was the son of William C. and Lee A. (Johnson) Todtz III.
Will lived a life rooted in loyalty, adventure, and a passion for the things, and people he loved most.
Will graduated from DeKalb High School in 2015, carrying with him the same quiet determination and strong spirit that defined so much of his life. Over the years, he worked a variety of jobs; from landscaping to selling items on eBay, always willing to work hard and try something new.
He was proud to be an Eagle Scout with Troop 33, an accomplishment that reflected his character, and deep appreciation for the outdoors. Some of his most cherished memories were made at summer camp at Camp Lowden in Oregon, IL, and on a service trip to Kentucky with his dad and other members of the troop. Experiences that strengthened his resilience, and the bond he shared with his family.
Will felt most at peace outside. He loved camping beneath the stars, fishing in quiet waters, and spending time shooting and exploring nature. But his greatest passion was bowling. He first discovered his love for the game as young child and continued through high school and the varsity bowling team. He recently found his way back to it, proudly joining the Friday night league at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb. Bowling wasn't just a hobby for Will, it was a joy, a community, and a place where his competitive spirit and bright smile truly shined.
Survivors include parents; William and Lee Todtz of Cortland, sister; Brittany (Lucas) Wakefield of DeKalb. Maternal grandmother; Sandra Johnson of Albany, IL. Uncles; John (Paula) Todtz of Cedar Rapids, IA, Andrew (Marcie) Todtz of Grand Haven, MI, and Richard Johnson of Albany, IL. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; William C. and Esther Todtz Jr. and maternal grandfather Richard Johnson.
