Zdenka D. Johansen

Zdenka "Donna" Johansen, age 71 of DeKalb, IL, left us and this beautiful world on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. She was born February 22, 1948 in Czechoslovakia and was the loving daughter of Dominik and Marie (Langova) Matejka.

Zdenka graduated from high school and went on to college, receiving her Horticulture Degree in Czechoslovakia. She then proceeded to earn her nursing license in the United States, where she worked as a domestic and hospice nurse for years. Zdenka was also an accomplished artist, inventor, and author whose published writings include an autobiography, a children's book, and numerous editorials.

Zdenka is lovingly survived by:  sons, "Big John" Kuna, "Little John" Johansen; daughter, Michelle Kuna; daughters-in-law, Dawn Kuna and Jamie Johansen; grandchildren, Steven Kuna, Tukker Johansen, Abigail Johansen, and Finley Johansen. She was preceded in death by her parents Dominik and Marie, her daughter Diana, and her brother Robert.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 9:30am until 11:00am in the Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb, IL. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery (Section 67) 7201 Archer Road, Justice, IL, 60458, on Saturday January 18, 2020 at 1:00pm. Guests will meet at cemetery office at 12:45pm for procession.
